In this extremely rare recording from one of the most inspired and influential Rabbis of our generation, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach says, “You think only people that don’t hear so well need sign language? We all need sign language; the only thing is today we are so sophisticated we don’t read each other’s signs.” Interspersed in Rabbi Carlebach’s pearls of wisdom are wonderful melodies composed by Carlebach himself.

A rare and invaluable recording of the great Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. Rabbi Carlebach's teachings are known as 'Shlomo Torah' among his students and are unique in the entire history of Torah teachings. While to be sure there are many, many, many brilliant sages who lived and whose teachings we are blessed to possess in Aramaic, Hebrew, Arabic, English and a host of other languages, Reb Shlomo primarily addressed English speakers in an attempt to expose the incredible beauty of Torah (the Bible, its holidays and applications) to audiences who never had the chance to meet a Torah scholar at the very highest level. Rabbi Carlebach was studying in Lakewood with the giant Torah sage, Rabbi Aaron Kotler when the Lubavitch Chasidim's last Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson suggested he had a talent through his music and ability to speak to people with genuine warmth and love, that he needed to leave the private domain of the Halls of Study and go out into the world to teach. And teach he did for the rest of his life. The first, revolutionary composer of modern Jewish folk songs with melodies that are sung in Synagogues and at Weddings worldwide today: all over America, Switzerland, Israel, France and elsewhere, he also taught and told Chasidic Tales that contain life lessons at each concert. When visiting Synagogues in Arizona or other places in the USA or his family's synagogue in New York City he would deliver addresses in informal gatherings ranging from 9 to 50 attendees. At these sessions he would synthesize his vast knowledge of the the Bible, Talmud, Zohar and the entire wealth of Chasidic Masters that taught from the beggining of the movement in the 1700s through the present. Reb Shlomo was able to bring to life the teachings of the Izbitcher Rebbe's teachings in particular - deeply insightful teachings locked to all but those with the most insightful intellect due to their profundity. Such teachings by an accomplished sage who has spent a lifetime ...
